Japan is getting a new immersive art attraction this month, with the opening of Arte Museum Nagoya bringing enormous digital artworks, atmospheric sound, and even custom fragrances together under one roof.
Opening on November 18, 2026, in Shinmaiko, Chita City, Aichi Prefecture, the museum marks the Japanese debut of the South Korean digital design company d'strict's popular Arte Museum concept. The brand has welcomed more than 12 million visitors worldwide, and its Japanese location will feature 17 immersive art spaces.
The overall theme is "Eternal Nature", with visitors invited to step into enormous digital environments inspired by the natural world. Rather than simply looking at images on a screen, the installations surround visitors with floor-to-ceiling projections, carefully designed soundscapes, and original fragrances created to complement each artwork.
There are also some distinctly Japanese touches. The Nagoya location includes original works inspired by local cultural landmarks and traditional aesthetics, including Nagoya Castle and Japanese shrines.
Another highlight is an immersive interpretation of artworks from Paris's Musée d'Orsay, reimagined through Arte Museum's distinctive digital style.
Admission is 3,400 JPY on weekdays and 3,800 JPY on weekends and public holidays, with optional cafe packages also available.
