弥生4月の桜と霜月11月の紅葉。二つの季節の円山公園は、美しい色彩に包まれる。八坂神社に東隣する敷地は、「祇園」バス停から徒歩わずか3分。春、86,600㎡の日本庭園に植えられた680本余の桜の開花とともに、円山公園は大勢の花見客でにぎわう。秋は楓や紅葉、桜の葉が深紅に染まり、散策に好適の季節となる。1886（明治19）年に京都市が公園として整備し、1912（大正元）年に七代目・植治こと小川治兵衛が日本庭園を作庭した。以来、市民の憩いの場として年間を通じて公開されている。
