Naoyoshi

A lively local dining bar in Mishima

Literally just down the road from Mishima station, Naoyoshi is a locals' izakaya (dining bar), serving up tasty Japanese comfort food, beer and spirits. The menu is totally in Japanese, using kanji even for the prices, but full meal sets such as my tempura dinner go for around ¥1500, while my side dish of kimchi was ¥400. The regulars all seem to know each other, which makes for a fun, convivial atmosphere, and they were perfectly friendly and welcoming to me and my ropey Japanese skills.

It's just a couple of minutes' south-east of Mishima station, on the main road south towards Mishima Taisha.
