If you've ever visited a character-themed attraction in Japan and wished you could spend a little longer in that world, this new hotel offering might be right up your alley. Highland Resort Hotel & Spa, next to Fuji-Q Highland in Yamanashi Prefecture, is opening two permanent Sumikko Gurashi-themed rooms on November 28, 2026.

There are two different designs to choose from, and both have plenty of little details for fans to discover. The first, called the Sleepover Party Room, takes inspiration from the Sumikko Gurashi café and includes cozy seating areas, photo spots, and plenty of familiar characters dotted around the space. Guests can even claim their favorite little corner using a special sign provided at check-in.

The second room is a little more interactive. The Tapioca Hunt Room challenges guests to find hidden Tapioca characters tucked away in bookshelves, drawers, and other unexpected places. There's a mission sheet to help with the search, so it could be a fun activity for families travelling with children.

Both rooms come with exclusive original amenities, and guests who complete the room missions receive a limited-edition souvenir.

Each room measures 60 square meters and accommodates up to four people. Prices start at 86,000 JPY per room, per night, with reservations already open.

The hotel is an official partner property of Fuji-Q Highland, making this a handy option for anyone planning to visit the nearby San-X Paradise attraction, too. It looks like the Sumikko Gurashi fun doesn't have to end when the theme park closes!
