Shinsekai is filled with neon, kitsch and charm, with rows and rows of gift shops and retro looking restaurants. Stop by and try kushi-katsu, a local specialty of deep fried pork, chicken or potato served in skewers, it is old Osaka street food on a stick.

The landmark here is Tsutenkaku Tower, 103 meters high with the observatory offering an amazing view of Osaka. Now in its second reincarnation, the original tower was built in 1912. Tsutenkaku Tower is supposed to resemble the Eiffel Tower.
